2024/2025 Homeschool Curriculum Picks – 6th and 9th Grade

It’s almost that time again! Back to school!!

Summer for homeschool parents (& teachers) aren’t usually all fun and games with the family. For me a good portion of the summer break is spent planning for the next school year. If I’m honest, I would say that I start planning for the next school year, before the current one is even completed.

This year is a big school year for our family. I have one child entering middle school grades and the other entering high school grades. I’m not sure where the time went, but here we are nonetheless. I’m so grateful to be able to spend these growing years with them.

They both have pretty lofty career goals and I want to provide every opportunity I can for them to achieve them. My son feels he is being called to be a pastor, which makes my heart spill over with joy, knowing he plans to spend his life bringing people to the Lord. I couldn’t think of a better path for him if I tried. My daughter, since she was in preschool has said she wanted to be a nurse. Back then it was a “baby doctor” and since has been more specifically decided, a NICU nurse. Her brother spent 8 weeks in the NICU, and she has a true caregivers heart, so this didn’t surprise us in the least bit.

With that said, I want to ensure that I am setting them up to achieve those goals and in doing so, this is our plan for the upcoming school year. Going into these higher grades, I am striving to provide courses that will set them up for success in those fields, or any other, should they decide a different path.

Planning for a new school year is my favorite part of being a homeschool mom. I love researching the curriculum, envisioning what our school year will look like, ordering materials and setting up our school area. Our dining room serves as our school room right now, so we make the most out of a small space, but it’s exciting all the same to envision a new set up each year. Now, on to our curriculum picks for this year!
